Deadlines
Every date that can cost you money
Federal, Florida, and the two local taxes Miami actually collects, in one place. Pick who you are and the calendar shows only what applies to you.
Every date here was read off an IRS or Florida government document, and every one links back to it. Where a government has published the rule but not yet the date, we calculate it and say so. Where it has published neither, we leave the gap open rather than fill it with something that looks like an answer.

1Every month, all year
Florida sales and use tax, monthly
Due the 1st, late after the 20th of the following month. Rolls forward to the next business day off a weekend or holiday — but the electronic payment must be initiated by 5pm Eastern the business day BEFORE, which can move it the other way.
Filing frequency is set by what you collected last year: over $1,000 monthly, $501–$1,000 quarterly, $101–$500 semiannually, $100 or less annually. The collection allowance is 2.5% of the first $1,200 due, capped at $30, and only if you file and pay electronically and on time. The minimum late penalty is $50 even on a zero return.

Both run on the same 20th-of-the-month rhythm as the state return, and both are filed on local portals rather than with the Department of Revenue.
Miami-Dade: 3% convention development tax county-wide except Surfside and Bal Harbour, 2% tourist development tax excluding Miami Beach as well, 2% on food and beverage in hotels, and a 1% homeless and domestic violence tax on establishments serving alcohol with over $400,000 in receipts. A return is required for every period even when no tax is due. Miami Beach: 4% on transient rentals of six months or less, 2% on food, beverage and alcohol — and third-party platform sales go in your monthly filing.

Two dates in this window do not exist yet in any government document, and neither can be safely calculated. We would rather show you the gap than a guess.

2027 electronic payment deadlines — not yet published
We are not going to compute these. Electronic payment deadlines move BACKWARD off a weekend or holiday, which means they depend on Florida's 2027 state holiday schedule, and that is not published either. The rule holds in the meantime: initiate by 5pm Eastern on the business day before the due date. If you need a specific 2027 date before January, call us and we will confirm it with the Department.

Fourth 2027 estimated installment — January 2028, date to be confirmed
The rule is the fifteenth day of the first month after the tax year ends. In 2028 that is a Saturday, so the date is NOT January 15 — and which day it moves to depends on the 2028 holiday schedule. We will publish it when the IRS does rather than guess.
Dates verified October 18, 2026.

This page is general information. It is not tax or legal advice, and using it does not make us your accountants — that takes an engagement letter signed by both of us.
Dates move. Congress moves them, Florida moves them, and the IRS postpones them for whole counties after a storm, which in this state is not a hypothetical. A deadline that applied to you last year may not be the one that applies this year.
Your own facts decide your own deadlines: a fiscal year end, a first year of operation, a late election, a state you did not know you had nexus in. If a date on this page matters to your filing, call us before you rely on it.
Not any of these yet?
If the company does not exist, that is the first thing to fix — and the choice you make in week one is the one that is expensive to undo in year three.

Not sure which of these are yours?
Call and a person picks up. Send a note and a person reads it. Either way it reaches somebody at the firm, not a queue.
